Which free API does this live cricket scoreboard use?

The page is configured for CricketData.org/CricAPI current matches data, which has a lifetime free API tier.

Why is the API key handled server-side?

This keeps the CricketData API key out of public browser code and sends only normal scoreboard data to visitors.
